Fan favorite Yabo returns to Steelheads

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that forward Jeremy Yablonski has been reassigned to the ECHL team by the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Yablonski, 25, was a fan favorite during the 2001-02 season when he played for the Steelheads, then a member of the West Coast Hockey League. In 69 games with Idaho, he tallied 3 points (2g-1a) and 303 penalty minutes.
"Jeremy will add an element of toughness to our team as well as provide a great deal of experience. I expect him to be a good leader on and off the ice," said Derek Laxdal, Idaho Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations.
The Nashville Predators picked up the 6-1, 235-pound right wing on waivers from the St. Louis Blues in 2003 and assigned him to Milwaukee. With the Admirals, Yablonski has notched 6 points (3g-3a) and 198 penalty minutes in 64 games. The Saskatchewan native has also split time with the ECHL's Peoria Rivermen (now in the AHL), and the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and Worcester IceCats since leaving Idaho. He played one game for the NHL's St. Louis Blues on December 30th, 2003 versus the Philadelphia Flyers and gathered 5 penalty minutes (for fighting Todd Fedoruk).
Yablonski will make his first appearance with the Steelheads on Wednesday, March 1st at Qwest Arena. The Steelheads leave today for Las Vegas to play two games this weekend before returning home for a three-game series against the Phoenix RoadRunners.
