Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]âThe Macon Trax are quickly signing players from last season's team that went to the league finals. Ryan Rivard has agreed to terms with the Macon Trax, bringing the total of returning players up to five.
After spending his rookie season with two Texas teams, Rivard found a home in Macon for his sophomore campaign. From day one Head Coach Tommy Stewart knew he would be a big part of the Trax plans.
Last year Rivard had a breakout season in the WHA2. The West Lorne, Ont. native appeared in 53 games for the Trax scoring 40 points (23G, 17A). The winger amassed 211 penalty minutes, including 21 majors, second in the league.
Stewart expects Rivard to have another fine season. As the season went on "Rivey" was one of the most improved players on the Trax.
"Rivey has got a lot of skills and just had to be given a chance." said Stewart, "As the season progressed he became a better player and had a point in almost every playoff game."
The fans took quickly to Rivard when he arrived in Macon. He not only performed well on the ice, he was a model citizen in the community. With the hours Rivard spent visiting schools, retirement communities, and various organizations, he earned the league's "Humanitarian Award."
"It is always special to find not only a good player but a good person as well." said General Manager Joe Suk, "The Trax take pride in their community work and having a player that is very willing to do a lot of this work is a true show of what kind of guy Ryan is."
Season tickets and corporate packages for the 2004-05 season are on sale now for as low as $99. The Trax are looking forward to renewing their rivalries with Columbus and Huntsville from the late 1990's. To be a part of exciting Macon Trax hockey call the office at 478-742-4849.
