Florida Seals News Release
Linda Kranert, a 15-year veteran in the fields of event planning, marketing, and fundraising, joins the Seals in 2004-05 as the team's Marketing and Special Events Consultant. The long-time hockey fan has already begun her duties with the Seals and fans should expect great things from her this season.
While living in Tallahassee, Kranert organized everything from the Opening Picnics to Charity Golf Tournaments for the now-defunct Tallahassee Tiger Sharks of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). Says Kranert, "I got involved with professional hockey when a Tiger Shark player befriended my little two year old grandson. Corey wouldn't put a small wooden hockey stick down for days and kept saying he wanted to "go to hookey".... here we are eight years later loving the game and the players more than ever. I hope to bring more excitement to the games and the season for fans as well as spread the word that this sport is the best. The Seals team has so much to offer our community and our children. Our kids can learn about other States, countries, cultures and languages from the many players who chose to come here. Orlando is lucky to have hockey and I want it to be around for years to come."
In 1997 Kranert was selected from over 25,000 Floridians as the Volunteer of the Year for Special Olympics Florida because of her outstanding efforts in raising funds for the charity. In 2001, while serving for the first time on the Board of Directors for North Florida's Telephone Counseling and Referral Services (now known as 211 Big Bend), Kranert's efforts in organizing events gained her recognition as the Board Member of the Year. She is a five-time State of Florida Davis Productivity Award Winner recognized by Florida TaxWatch for saving the State thousands of dollars.
Those who attended the last game of the 2003-04 season got a taste of the types of events to expect from Kranert this season. The Seals "Margaritaville" night featuring a pre-game concert and tailgate party, Jimmy Buffet music, Margaritaville Café giveaways and a post-game concert was one of her many creative ventures. Kranert will be in charge of the newly organized kids club, "Paek's Pals" and has organized the educational "Geography Hockey Style" school program. Amongst her other fun events look for special nights at the games, charitable golf tournaments, fundraising dinners, meet and greets and much more.
The Seals are currently accepting season ticket applications for the 2004-05 season. For more information call the Seals at (407) 447-PUCK (7825).
