Corpus Christi, TX- There was familiar face in practice this week for the Hammerheads. Harrington under center, drops back to pass, he fires, complete to....SHOMARI BUCHANAN? That's right, big nubmer 84 is back and he's looking to help bring home the hardware to Corpus Christi. Shomari, 28, was a standout reciever at the University of Alabama and along with his time in both Arena Leagues he also had a stint with the Oakland Raiders. Shomari broke out last year as one of the most prolific scoring recievers in the IFL. Plagued by nagging injuries throughout the entire season in 2004, there's no telling what he could have done had he stayed healthy.
Shomari has been working out all off season and looks to be in fine form this year to start things off with a bang. He's picking up Jason McKinley's offense pretty well and has had a good showing in practice so far in his first couple of days. Buchanan brings a swagger and confidence to an offense that has been on the edge of breaking out every game this season. He may just be the final push that takes the Hammerhead Offense to new heights. He's already talking about 60-70 point games. He will play his first game as a Hammerhead in 2005 on Saturday April 9 against Kissimmee in Kissimmee. Shomari was a huge fan favorite last year and looks to bring more of the same to the Corpus Christi Fans this year. Look out NIFL, the "Dice Roll" is back and it's looking like the Hammerheads are rolling only "7's" and "11's" from here on out.
