Schedule Changes In Store For Morays
April 7, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Miami Morays News Release
MIAMI, FL â Due to the recent addition of the Dayton Warbirds into the National Indoor Football League, the Miami Morays schedule will see some modifications that will affect several away games and change the opponent for one home game.
The originally scheduled bye for this week will now see the Morays traveling to play the Lakeland Thunderbolts on April 9th and the Daytona Beach Hawgs on April 11th. The change will give the Morays two games in three nights and three games in eight days when the previously scheduled away game against Kissimmee on April 16th is factored in.
With the addition of the two new road games, the away games previously scheduled for April 23rd against the Odessa Roughnecks and May 28th against the Rome Renegades have been removed from the Morays schedule and replaced with bye-weeks.
"This will be a tough stretch for us, especially having to face divisional foes Lakeland and Daytona Beach in a space of 48 hours from kick-off to kick-off," said Morays GM Denny Petro. "Hopefully by accepting this present challenge, the two bye-weeks will look even more inviting. We just want to avoid any serious injuries and keep our record intact."
The Dayton Warbirds were scheduled to play in the United Indoor Football league this season, but were suspended from the league due to ownership problems. After a league wide vote, the NIFL adopted the Dayton Warbirds with a new ownership group.
"Bringing in Dayton at this point in the season allows the NIFL the reschedule games that will help ease the high travel costs associated with the original schedule." NIFL President Carolyn Shiver said.
Miami's next home game is a key intra-divisional battle with the Daytona Beach Hawgs on May 1st. Kick-off time is 3:05 pm
The Miami Morays will play in the National Indoor Football League, entering its fifth season with 2 teams located across the United States. The NIFL provides players with an opportunity to develop their skills and continue their careers in professional football.
Tickets are available at the Miami Arena Box Office or through Ticketmaster. For additional information about the Miami Morays, please call Mark Fischel at 305-374-8950 X308 or visit us at www.miamimoraysfootball.com.
