Falcons Re-sign Weaver

October 8, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have re-signed left winger Jason Weaver to a contract as the team officially opens training camp for the 2004-05 season. Players reported for team meetings tonight and will take the ice for the first time tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Save Mart Center.

The Falcons' captain each of the past two seasons, Weaver will don a Falcons sweater for the fourth straight year. He joins Scott Borders as the only players remaining from Fresno's Taylor Cup Championship team in 2001-02, a post-season run in which Weaver finished fourth in the West Coast Hockey League in playoff scoring. In 2002-03 he set new career highs for points (65) and assists (43) and tied a career high with 22 goals before leading the Falcons to a repeat trip to the Taylor Cup Finals and within one victory of a second straight championship. Weaver battled injuries right out of training camp last year on his way to recording 35 points (15g-20a) and 91 penalty minutes in 52 games played.

"As the captain of our team, I know that Jason was as disappointed as Greg [Spenrath] and I were about missing the playoffs last year," said Falcons General Manager Blaine Moore. "He opted to have surgery before last season ended so that he could be ready to go right out of camp. He's helped lead us to one and nearly two championships, and I know he's excited about helping us turn this ship around."

Falcons single-game tickets are now on sale for as low as $8 per seat. Tickets may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
