December 28, 2008 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Manchester Monarchs 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. Manchester's Brian Boyle broke a scoreless tie with his fourth goal of the season with just 52-seconds remaining in the first period putting the Monarchs ahead 1-0.
In a spirited second period, Manchester expanded their lead to 2-0 when Tyler Mosienko scored on the power play at 2:18 of the middle frame. The Monarchs built a 3-0 lead at 9:25 of the second period when Jon Rheault snapped a wrist shot past Devan Dubnyk. The Falcons cut their deficit to 3-1 late in the middle frame when Gilbert Brule scored on the power play at 14:31.
In the third period, Brule scored his second power play marker of the game at 5:39 cutting Springfield's deficit to 3-2, but Manchester's Dusty Collins regained the Monarchs two-goal lead at 7:41 of the final frame with his second goal of the year.
