Bulldogs Rally Past Americans in 4-3 Shootout Win

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Rochester Americans in a shootout 4-3. Yannick Weber recorded a goal and an assist in the win to lead the 'Dogs to victory.

The Americans opened the game by scoring three goals in the first frame. David Brine blasted a slapshot that was tipped past Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis by Karl Stewart at 1:29. Kenndal McArdle gave the Amerks a 2-0 lead at 4:39 after he skated behind the net and jammed the puck past Denis on the short side. The Bulldogs allowed their third shorthanded goal in two games at 11:28. Janis Sprukts and Stewart skated in on a two-on-one before Sprukts fired a shot that was saved by Denis. The rebound bounced right onto the stick of Stewart, allowing him to bank the puck into the back of the net.

Hamilton got on the scoreboard at 1:02 of the second stanza. David Desharnais hammered a slapshot that beat Rochester starting goaltender Mike Brodeur below the glove. Max Pacioretty added the Bulldogs second goal at 18:43. Weber rifled a shot on net that was saved by Brodeur. Pacioretty grabbed the loose puck before squeaking it through the five-hole of Brodeur.

Weber tied the game 3-3 at 14:36 of the final frame. While stationed at the left point, Weber received a pass from Shawn Belle. Weber blasted a shot that beat Brodeur between the legs. Olivier Latendresse earned an assist to extend his assist streak to four games.

After five minutes of overtime, the teams headed to a shootout. Marc Denis stopped three of four shooters while Yanick Lehoux, Mike Glumac and Desharnais scored for the Bulldogs to secure the win.
