Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons Charitable Foundation began its partnership with the YMCA of Greater Springfield Wednesday. Sarah Pompea, Foundation President, presented a check for $5,000 to Kirk Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA, and Kristine Allard, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Development Officer, in support of the Saturday Sports Sampler program. The program begins in October.

"We are extremely excited to begin this partnership with the YMCA," Pompea said Wednesday. "The goals of the Charitable Foundation coincide with those of the YMCA, so we feel it's a natural fit."

The YMCA's Saturday Sports Sampler will be run every Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., October through March, giving local children an overview of a variety of sports. Each Saturday will feature its own sport, instructing the participants in a healthy and nurturing environment.

"We couldn't be more thankful for the Falcons' generosity," Smith said.

In addition to the monetary donation, Falcons' players and members of the front office will donate their time throughout the course of the program to offer a hands-on contribution to the children involved with the program.

Fans are invited back to the MassMutual Center in 2013-14 to watch the reigning Northeast Division-champion Falcons compete in their 20th anniversary season. Adult season-ticket packages start as low as #13 per game. To reserve your seats for the upcoming season, call (413) 739-GOAL (4625) or visit the team office inside the MassMutual Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
