Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons had their three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday as the Bakersfield Condors skated away with a 3-0 win in front of 11,582 fans at Save Mart Center. Bakersfield goaltender Yutaka Fukufji picked up the shutout, turning aside all 32 Falcons shots.
Bakersfield got on the board first 14:29 into the opening period. Steve Slonina stole the puck in the left-wing circle of the Fresno zone, and moved it for Chris Di Ubaldo, who beat Kris Mayotte with a wrist shot from the right-wing side.
Di Ubaldo added his second of the night on a power play 1:24 into the second period. Mayotte looked to the clear puck out of the zone, but Di Ubaldo knocked the attempt down at the blue line, and shot the puck back into an open net for his fifth goal of the season.
Eric Sonnenberg stretched the Condors lead to three at the 7:54 mark of the third period. Jason Goulet's shot was stopped by Mayotte, but the rebound sat free in the crease, and was swept in by Sonnenberg for his seventh of the year.
Fresno out-shot Bakersfield for the night 32-19, and went scoreless on 11 power-play opportunities.
The Falcons and Condors conclude their season series on Monday, with a 7:00 p.m. face-off at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield. Catch all of the action on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 6:45.
Fresno returns home on Friday, hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m. on Raiders at the Rink Night, presented by CBS 47, KRZR 103.7 FM, B95, and Fox Sports Radio. The Raiderettes will be in attendance to sign autographs and perform during the first intermission, and Raiders linebacker and Fresno State alum Sam Williams will also be in attendance.
