Falcons Add More Scoring and Grit
September 2, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have added two more players to their roster as center Korey Diehl and defenseman Dan Rohanna have signed contracts for the upcoming ECHL season.
Diehl helped lead the South Surrey Eagles to both a regular season division title and the British Columbia Hockey League's Fred Page Cup Championship this past season. In two years with the Eagles, the rookie from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, amassed 155 points (62g-93a) and 381 penalty minutes in just 114 games.
Rohanna is entering his second full year as a pro after spending last season primarily in the United Hockey League. The 6-foot-3, 215 lb. defenseman recorded six points (5g-1a) and 47 penalty minutes in 60 total games last year, including one game with the ECHL's Peoria Rivermen.
"Korey comes highly recommended from a number of different people. He's skilled enough to be a top scorer in juniors but also brings an element of toughness to the ice, which is impressive, because he's not the biggest guy in the world," said Falcons head coach and general manager Matt Thomas. "Dan is a big, strong d-man that is willing to mix it up and adds some more size and toughness to our line-up."
Current Falcons roster for the 2005-06 season:
Forwards (7) - Fraser Clair, Korey Diehl, Brett Hammond, JF Plourde, Dan Rohanna, Scott Rozendal,
John Wroblewski
Defensemen (4) - Cramer Hickey, Cory Murphy, Matt O'Dette, Dustin VanBallegooie
Goaltender (1) - Brett Jaeger
