Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX (September 2, 2005) - Texas Wildcatters Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Tony MacAulay announced today the team has signed forward Jason Deitsch to a contract for the 2005-06 season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Deitsch led St. Norbert College in scoring last season with 16 goals and 31 assists in 30 games as he captained the team to a 24-3-3 record. He finished his collegiate career as the Green Knights' all-time leading scorer with 64 goals and 120 assists in 122 games. Deitsch's outstanding season earned him CCM West First-Team All-American honors for the third consecutive year as selected by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). With the selection, he became St. Norbert's only three-time First-Team All-American. Deitsch led the team in scoring in three of his four seasons as a Green Knight as St. Norbert went a combined 101-13-10 during his college career.

Following his stellar collegiate career, the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Indianapolis, IN joined the Kalamazoo Wings (UHL) where he scored in each of his first two professional games and finished with four goals and three assists in 12 games. Deitsch also added an assist and four penalty minutes in three playoff games.

"Jason is a talented player with a track record of success," said MacAulay. "He will be relied upon to be a spark with his grit and determination. He has a good attitude and was a leader for his team during his collegiate career. With a few professional games under his belt already, he is ready to make the transition and we are excited to have him on board."

The new-look Wildcatters open their third season on October 21 at Florida, before returning to Ford Arena for the home opener on October 29 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
