Jamar Leath, who earned All-American honors at Coastal Carolina University last season, and Keafta Dokes have been signed by the Bloomington Extreme of the United Indoor Football League, it was announced Thursday by Coach Ted Schmitz.
Leath, a four-year starter at linebacker for Coastal Carolina, finished his career as the Big South Conference all-time leading tackler with 364. He had a school-record 116 tackles (47 solos and 69 assists) during his senior year when he was named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-American team.
It marked the second straight year the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Leath compiled over 100 tackles in a season. He also had 5.5 tackles for loss for 15 yards and one interception last year. The Elon, N.C. native was an all-Big South Conference selection his last two years at Coastal Carolina.
Dokes is a 5-11, 200-pound defensive back, who played his final season at Northern Illinois in 2005. Both players are on the Extreme's 30-man roster for Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against Rock River at Rockford.
Schmitz said defensive back Lamar Baker and linebacker Will Bailey were placed on waivers. Baker is out this week with a lingering knee injury.
