Evansville BlueCats News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats of United Indoor Football (UIF) are pleased to announce several team appearances in the coming weeks which will allow BlueCats fans the opportunity to meet and interact with the players and cheerleaders at locations all over town.
In the past week, the Evansville BlueCats have made appearances at the Scott School Field Day and at Delaware School's Perfect Attendance Ice Cream Party. Photos of both events can be found in the photo gallery of the Evansville BlueCats web site.
Up next for the team are appearances at the Summer Sports Camp on Wednesday, May 30th, from 11-1pm and the Fox 7 Kid's Club party which will take place Thursday, May 31st, immediately following the BlueCats public practice session. Both of these events will be at Metro Sports Center.
Coming up in the month of June, the BlueCats already have 6 community appearances scheduled. The players will be appearing at the Evansville Police Department's annual Weed & Seed Fun Day, the LemonAid Stand for Easter Seals, and the Bee Healthy Boot Camp in Boonville, among others. Also coming up, the Evansville BlueCats cheerleaders will be making an appearance at the Kid's Health & Fun Day at Buehler's in Darmstadt.
The Evansville BlueCats Booster Club has also been busy representing the team at various events. Most recently, they have donated their time at the annual IDEAL Day and at the March of Dimes WalkAmerica.
The Evansville BlueCats Booster Club (the "FinHeads") is a unique organization within the ranks of the United Indoor Football family. The "FinHeads" are more than just a fan group, they are the only UIF Booster Club in the league that is registered with the government and is classified as a 501c non-profit organization. The Booster Club has a written Mission Statement and Code of By Laws, as well as a Board of Directors with elected officers.
UIF teams have always been active in their communities and this season the league has started to track the community service performed by the teams during the year. The league has created the UIF Extra Points program which will award each team one point for each hour of community service. In addition to the reward of serving the community, it will be competitive as the team with the most Extra Points at the end of the year will be rewarded when the UIF makes a donation on behalf of the winning team the charity of the team's choice.
The Evansville BlueCats have always been focused on making appearances at community events and place community service as a priority. With the BlueCats' history of service to Evansville and Tri-State area, the new UIF Extra Points program has only helped to reinforce that focus once again this season. With the BlueCats impressive history in this area, it should come as no surprise that the BlueCats hold a strong lead in the inaugural UIF Extra Points contest.
Thanks to the generous amounts of time spent by the Evansville BlueCats players, cheerleaders, "FinHeads", and front office staff performing community service work have helped the BlueCats build a lead in the UIF Extra Points contest.
The league sends out an updated scoreboard every month and the BlueCats have been leading almost from the beginning. With the additional appearances scheduled and other appearances that are tentative and will be finalized soon, the BlueCats expect to continue their service work and extend their lead.
In addition to their community service appearances, the BlueCats are also pleased to announce a new partnership with the Fox and Hound English Pub. This partnership includes the team eating a team meal every Monday night from 6:30-7:30pm. Fans age 21 and over are encouraged to visit and eat with the BlueCats every Monday night at the Fox and Hound from now until the end of the season.
