May 24, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
Colorado Crush News Release

The Colorado Ice (5-4) defeated the Sioux City Bandits (2-5) Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. by a 21-12 margin. Colorado remains second in the West division, behind the 6-0 Sioux Falls Storm.

Running back Eugene Reed put up 49 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the second half to lead the Ice to victory. Colorado finished with 111 total rushing yards with quarterback Matt Gutierrez adding 40 and running back Ryan Drinkwater recording 15. Wide receiver Ed Renteria led the team with 58 yards, with a longest of 43. Gutierrez was 7-for-15 for 85 yards and one interception. The Bandits had 21 rushing yards and 147 passing yards. Quarterback Mike Donato threw two interceptions, returned by Josh Brewer and Shane Marsh. Rashaun Sanders led the Bandits with 65 yards.

Colorado's defense held Sioux City to 12 points, all scored in the second quarter. Sioux City's first series ended when Josh Brewer intercepted a Donato pass at the Colorado one. The Bandits were the first to put a score on the board at the beginning of the second quarter when Andre Raymond ran it in, but newly acquired kicker Brad Cave's extra point attempt failed.

The Ice responded on the subsequent series with a one yard rush from Drinkwater to give Colorado a 7-6 lead. Donato added six on Sioux City's following possession, but failed on a two-point conversion pass to put them up 12-7. Colorado didn't score again until the fourth quarter when Cave missed a field goal to turn over the ball on downs at the Colorado eight. Reed rushed on four plays to add another touchdown. Reed scored again on the Ice's next possession after sitting out a couple of plays after a thought-to-be ankle injury to give Colorado a 21-12 lead. Neither team was able to convert on their next two possessions as the clock ran out, handing the Ice another home victory to give them a 4-1 home record.
