Bloomington Extreme News Release

Bloomington, IL - Jamar Leath, who earned All-American honors at Coastal Carolina University (CCU) last season, and Keafta Dokes have been signed by the Bloomington Extreme of United Indoor Football (UIF), Head Coach Ted Schmitz announced Thursday.

Leath, a four-year starter at linebacker for CCU, finished his career as the Big South Conference's all-time leading tackler with 364. He had a school-record 116 tackles (47 solos and 69 assists) during his senior year when he was named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-American team.

It marked the second straight year the 6'2, 230 pound Leath compiled over 100 tackles in a season. He also had 5.5 tackles for loss for 15 yards and one interception last year. The Elon, NC, native was an all-Big South Conference selection his last two years at CCU.

Dokes is a 5-11, 200-pound defensive back, who played his final season at Northern Illinois in 2005. Both players are on the Extreme's 30-man roster for Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against Rock River at Rockford.

Schmitz said defensive back Lamar Baker and linebacker Will Bailey were placed on waivers. Baker is out this week with a lingering knee injury.

The Extreme will be shooting for a franchise-record fifth-straight victory against Rock River and to avenge a 53-20 loss in the opening week of the season. The Extreme has a 4-3 record and trails the Raptors (5-3) and Lexington by one-half game in the Eastern Conference standings.
