Bloomington Extreme News Release
Just hours before the CHL trade deadline, the Corpus Christi IceRays made a trade and waived one player. Sitting just three points out of a play-off spot, Corpus Christi traded Defenseman Matt Smyth to the Tulsa Oilers for Center Jereme Tendler. They also placed veteran Defenseman Bob Rapoza on waivers. The Corpus Christi IceRays will return to the American Bank Center on Friday for Pink in the Rink presented by Andrew's Distributing against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The first 500 fans will receive free throw blankets courtesy of Radiology & Imaging.
Jereme Tendler joins the IceRays after 36 games and 7 points (4 g, 3 a) in Tulsa this season. Tendler played collgiate hockey at American International College where he was teammates with Jeremy Leroux. In 126 collegiate games, Tendler had 49 goals, 38 assists and 87 points. The Center had brief stints in the IHL before making his way to the CHL. Matt Smyth leaves Corpus Christi after 76 games, 4 goals and 9 assists. This will be Smyth's second stretch in Tulsa. The Ontario-native was acquired from Tulsa last season as part of the Jason Baird trade.
Bob Rapoza leaves Corpus Christi after 16 points (4 g, 12 a) in 47 games.
The IceRays will begin this week in Bossier-Shreveport on Tuesday night and then return home to take on the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Friday on Saturday night at the American Bank Center. For more information on the IceRays, please call the team at 361.814.PUCK or online at www.ccrayz.com.
