Extreme shoots for sixth straight win

The Bloomington Extreme is going for a franchise-record sixth straight victory in its first meeting with the Evansville BlueCats this year in an Eastern Conference match-up at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The Extreme has an Eastern Conference-leading 5-3 record, while Evansville is 2-6. Plenty of tickets remain for the game, which will be broadcast on WTRX (93.7 FM, Bloomington).

The Extreme has a 2-2 record at U.S. Cellular Coliseum this season and a 4-8 mark at home in franchise history. The Extreme has a 2-0 record all-time against Evansville, including a 1-0 record at home against the BlueCats.

The teams have played five common opponents in Rock River, Lexington, RiverCity, Omaha and Ohio Valley. The Extreme has a 5-3 record against the common opponents, while Evansville is 2-5. The BlueCats' only two victories have come against Ohio Valley.

The series: This is the first meeting between the teams this year.

Coaches: Ted Schmitz is in his second season as the head coach of the Extreme. He has a 10-13 career record. Evansville's head coach is John Hart, who is in his second year with the BlueCats. He led Evansville to an 8-9 record last season and the semifinal round of the UIF playoffs.

Extreme's last outing: Quarterback Dusty Burk threw for four touchdowns and ran for three to earn UIF Offensive Player of the Week honors in a 54-47 overtime victory over Rock River at the Rockford MetroCentre. It was the first overtime game in Extreme history. Burk completed 20 of 31 passes for 215 yards and rushed 10 times for 59 yards. Peter Christofilakos booted a 33-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to send the game into overtime. Burk scored on the team's first possession on a 2-yard run and defensive back James Temple intercepted his second pass of the game on Rock River's ensuing possession to seal the victory.

Extreme injuries, etc: Defensive lineman Rachman Crable is questionable with a sprained ankle; Defensive lineman Nick Ruud is out for the season with a torn ACL; Defensive back James Temple will miss the game while attending a Canadian Football League combine workout in Atlanta. Ga.
