Rage to Face Horsemen in Week Two Re-Match

June 1, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
RiverCity Rage News Release

St. Charles, MO - After a much needed week off, the RiverCity Rage of United Indoor Football (UIF) will head to Lexington, KY tomorrow to take on the Horsemen. The two teams played to overtime the last time they met on March 31st. The Rage came out on top 46-39 as Joe Bevis intercepted a Kewan Dewberry pass near the end zone to secure the victory.

"We really battled back that night," said Jim Cox, Rage head coach. "We got down 11-0 right out of the gate and were down by five at the half. Our offense played as well as you could have asked in that comeback. Defensively, we knew we were going to have to stop (Rayshawn) Askew and we held him to just 30 yards."

Rage running back Muhammad Abdulqaadir led the way for RiverCity as he totaled four total touchdowns. The Eureka High School grad rushed for three and caught the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime.

The Rage (5-4) are coming off their first bye week of the season and it could not have come at a better time for the team. They have lost their last four games after jumping out 5-0 in their first season in the UIF.

"The bye week was exactly what we needed," said Cox. "To, finally, be able to have a full squad at practice is huge for us. Before our last game, we had nine players that were unable to practice. This week it was down to just two. Also, it gave newcomers Jason Manson and Cliff Dukes a full week of preparation."

Dukes, a defensive end out of Michigan State, was just signed by the Rage this week, while Manson, a quarterback out of Iowa, had not had any workouts with the team prior to their last game.

The Horsemen (5-4) have split their last six games, losing their last time out, 39-28, at Sioux City. Lexington is one of the UIF's most balanced teams, ranking third in both scoring offense (45.2 per game) and defense (35.2 per game).

"This will be another game between two really talented teams," added Cox. "With both teams are tied for second place in the division, this should be a great one."

Rage individual game tickets are now on sale and start as low as $10. Tickets can be purchased at The Family Arena box office, 2002 Arena Parkway, any MetroTix location, www.ragefootball.com or by calling the Rage office at (636) 896-4285.
