Extreme Players Earn Honors

Bloomington Extreme kicker Peter Christofilakos and quarterback Dusty Burk were named Players of the Week by United Indoor Football officials, it was announced Thursday.

Both garnered the honors for their respective performances in the Extreme's record-setting 76-73 victory over Sioux City at U.S. Cellular Coliseum last week. The victory moved the Extreme's record to 6-5 and gave it a two-and-one-half game lead in the Eastern Division with four weeks remaining.

Bloomington has this week off before closing the campaign with road games at RiverCity (May 31) and Sioux Falls (June 14) sandwiched around a June 7 home date at U.S. Cellular Coliseum against Omaha at 7:05 p.m.

Christofilakos earned special teams Player of the Week for the third time this season by connecting on all 10 of his point-after-touchdown and kicks converting two of three field goals, including the game-winning 28-yard attempt as time expired.

He also kicked a 23-yard field goal and averaged 49.8 yards on 12 kickoffs. Christofilakos leads the UIF in field goal and point-after-touchdown conversion percentage. He has made 14 of 27 field goal attempts for 51.9 percent and 50 of 56 conversion kicks for 89.3 percent. He also ranks first among kickers in scoring with 92 points (fourth overall in the league) and second in field goals per game with 1.40.

Burk shared the offensive Player of the Week honors with Billings quarterback after completing 21 of 29 passes for 252 yards and seven touchdowns. He also rushed for 26 yards and one touchdown to give him 278 yards of total offense.

Dixon completed 20 of 28 passes for 247 yards and seven touchdowns. He also rushed for 50 yards to end with 297 yards of total offense.

Burk leads the Extreme in rushing and passing with 226 yards and five touchdowns on the ground and 1,950 yards through the air. He ranks fourth in the league in rushing with 22.6 yards per game average and 4.5 yards per carry average.

He also ranks second in the league behind Dixon in passing yards per game (195.0) and total offense (217.6). Burk has completed 170 of 285 passes for 59.6 percent and 37 touchdowns. He is third in passing efficiency with a 98.1 ranking.

Other players from the Extreme, who rank among the individual leaders in the UIF, include Andre Raymond, James Walton, Derin Graham, Quince Holman, James Temple, Carlos Lattimore and Jeff Candler.

Walton leads the league in scoring with 128 points (11.6 points per game average) on a league-high 21 receiving touchdowns. He also leads the league in total receiving yards (808 on 60 catches) and per game average (13.5).

The all-star receiver is second in yards per game with 73.5 and third in receptions per game with 5.45.

Fellow receiver Derin Graham is fifth in receiving yards per game (63.5) and kickoff return average (20.2). He ranks sixth in receptions per game (4.91) and all-purpose yards (103.4), while rating eighth in points per game at 6.5.

Raymond is third in missed field goal return average with a 22.7 average; fourth in all-purpose yardage average (115.6); and ninth in kick return yard average (17.3).

On the defensive side of the ball, Holman is third in quarterback sacks with 5.5 per game; sixth in tackles for loss with 9.5; and seventh in tackles (an average of 5.6 per game) and fumbles forced with two.

Holman leads the Extreme in tackles with 38 solos and 44 assists for 60 points. Solo tackles count for one point and assists count for one-half point.

Temple is second on the team and 12th in the league with 57 points. He also ranks seventh in fumbles forced with two and ninth in passes defended with seven pass break-ups and three interceptions for 10 points.

Candler is seventh in quarterback sacks with a 3.5 average, while Lattimore is 15th in tackle points with 44.5.
