Bloomington Extreme News Release

Bloomington Extreme players James Walton, Dorian Pitts and Peter Christofilakos have been nominated by the team's coaching staff for Player of the Week honors in the United Indoor Football League for their performances in a 60-41 victory over Ohio Valley on Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Walton was nominated on offense after he established a pair of team and Coliseum records with nine receptions in a game and five touchdown grabs, one short of the UIF all-time record.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Walton gained 120 yards and scored four of his touchdowns in the second quarter when the Extreme broke to a 34-20 halftime lead. Walton's longest reception for touchdown was 37 yards, which also tied the team record.

Pitts was nominated on defense after making five solo tackles and assisting on eight other tackles to garner 9.0 defensive points from his linebacker position. Defensive back Mike Crumpler was the defensive leader with 9.5 points on six solo tackles and seven assists.

The 6-3, 200-pound Pitts also had two tackles for loss for minus 11 yards, one quarterback sack for minus eight yards, while forcing a fumble, recovering a fumble and blocking a field goal attempt.

Christofilakos was nearly flawless in his return to the Extreme after kicking for the Arizona Rattlers of the AFL the last two weeks to earn special teams nomination.

The former University of Illinois kicker was perfect on seven conversion kicks and added three field goals on five attempts. The field goals covered 34, 25 and 28 yards. Christofilakos also averaged 52.5 yards on 11 kickoffs.

The Extreme is on a franchise-best four game winning streak and stands one-half game out of the East Conference lead with a 4-3 record. Rock River and Lexington share the division lead with 5-3 marks.

Bloomington can pass Rock River with a victory over the Raptors on Friday at 7:05 p.m. in Rockford. The Raptors defeated the Extreme, 53-20, earlier in the season at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
