
Extreme nominates three for league honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Wide receiver Glenn Johnson, defensive back Terrill Mayberry and Dorian Pitts have been nominated by the Bloomington Extreme coaching staff for United Indoor Football League "Player of the Game" honors for their performances in Saturday's 56-44 victory over the Omaha Beef in Omaha.
Johnson caught seven passes for a team-record 138 yards and a club-tying record three touchdowns. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Johnson has 14 receptions in only two games for the Extreme for 207 yards and a team-high five touchdowns.
Mayberry had four solo tackles and six assists for seven points, while also breaking up three passes. The 5-11, 170-pound Mayberry is tied for the league lead in pass break-ups with 11 for a 2.20 per game average.
Pitts, who is tied for fourth in the UIF in tackles with a 6.1 per game average (10 solos, 29 assists), was nominated on special teams after blocking an Omaha field goal attempt with one second remaining in the first half, which resulted in teammate Evan Triggs recovered in the end zone for a touchdown.
The Extreme, which has won two straight for a 2-3 record, returns to action Saturday with a 7 p.m. game against RiverCity in St. Charles, Mo. The team's next home game is May 19 14 at 7:05 p.m. against Ohio Valley at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
