Extreme lands four on UIF all-star team

The Bloomington Extreme placed four players on the Eastern Conference team for the inaugural Casey's United Indoor Football All-Star Classic at Bloomington's U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Aug. 18 at 7:05 p.m.
Quarterback Dusty Burk was the leading vote-getter among Eastern Conference players and will be joined on the squad by Extreme teammates James Walton at wide receiver, offensive lineman Chad Walker and defensive back Terrill Mayberry.
The 25-man rosters for the game, which pits players from the Eastern Conference against their counterparts from the Western Conference, were selected by a vote of league coaches, play-by-play broadcasters, beat writers in each UIF town and fans, who registered for the UIF newsletter.
Dave Holly, the communications director for the UIF, said more than 3,400 fan ballots were e-mailed and more than 1,400 were returned.
"We were very pleased with the number of ballots cast by the fans and how in-tune with the coaches and media the fans are," said Holly.
Burk has completed 184 of 300 passes in 11 games for 2,093 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 296 yards on 77 attempts and scored 13 touchdowns.
Walton leads the Extreme with 66 receptions for 838 yards and 19 touchdowns. He ranks fourth in the UIF in reception yards per game (12.7) and fifth in receptions per game (4.71). Mayberry has started all 15 games in the defensive backfield for the Extreme this season and leads the team with 84.5 defensive points on 58 solo tackles and 53 assists. He ranks ninth in the league in tackles and third in passes defended with n average of 1.33 pass break-ups per game
The 6-foot-5, 335-pound Walker has been a starter on the offensive line since joining the team in the sixth week of the season.
Division champions Rock River and Sioux Falls led the all-star selections with eight each. Billings had seven selections, Colorado six, Lexington five, Bloomington and RiverCity four each, Evansville three, Omaha and Sioux City two each and Ohio Valley one.
