UIF final Players of the Week announced

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football is pleased to announce that James McNear, Joe Bevis and Deric Yaussi have been named the three Players of the Week for week 17. McNear led the Omaha Beef to their fourth consecutive win earning Offensive Player of the Week, RiverCity's Bevis continued his tackling rampage to earn Defensive Player of the Week and on Special Teams Colorado Ice kicker Yaussi hit a UIF league record 60-yard field goal.

James McNear (OMA) went 19-28 with no picks while passing for 149 yards and two touchdowns. McNear also rushed 13 times for 79 yards and four TD's, as the Beef defeated the Ice 43-40. Omaha will open the 2007 UIF playoffs on the road this Saturday, July 21, in Billings.

Joe Bevis (RIV) had seven tackles, three (TFL) for eight yards, two sacks for seven yards, one forced fumble and one pass breakup. RiverCity defeated Sioux City 45-38 in the final regular season game and are preparing to host their first ever UIF playoff game this Sunday against the Lexington Horsemen.

Deric Yaussi (COL) went 4-of-6 on field goals (24, 34, 45 and league record 60-yarder), 4-of-4 on extra points and had eight kickoffs for 364 yards. This is also the second time Yaussi has received Special Teams Player of the Week. The first was in week one. The Ice will visit the two-time defending United Bowl Champion Storm on Saturday.

Receiving Week 17 Honorable Mentions are: Offense, Steve LaFalce (BLO); Defense, Mike Crumpler (BLO); and Demetrius Wilbert (OVG).
