Raptors Lead East with Eight All-Star Selections

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rock River Raptors of the United Indoor Football (UIF) league announced today that eight Raptors have been named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team.
Representing the Raptors on offense are QB Ben Sankey, WR Lawrence Bady, C Craig Howard and K Doug Daniel. The Raptor defense will be represented by LB Maurice Simpkins, DB Blue Aldridge and DE's Anthony Harris and Darius Jones. All eight players are invited to play in the Casey's All-Star Classic in Bloomington, Ill. on August 18.
The Raptors eight All-Star selections tie them with Sioux Falls for the most in the league. In the rest of the East, Lexington had five All-Stars selected, Bloomington and River City had four each, Evansville three and Ohio Valley had one.
This Saturday, July 21 the Raptors will be playing in a first-round playoff game versus the Bloomington Extreme at the Metro Centre. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Trading cards, sponsored by WTVO and IE Press, will be given to the first 1,000 kids age 12 and under. Additional cards will be available for purchase through the Raptors Booster Club in the main lobby.
