Bloomington Extreme News Release
The Bloomington Extreme will be out to win the season series against Rock River when it meets the Raptors for the third time Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The Raptors defeated the Extreme, 53-20, during the second week of the season before Bloomington earned a 54-47 victory in overtime three weeks ago at the Rockford MetroCentre.
That is the only loss the Raptors have endured in their last six games. Rock River is tied with RiverCity for the lead in the Eastern Conference standings with a 7-4 record. The Extreme has a 5-5 record and needs a victory to snap a two-game losing streak.
The Extreme suffered a 40-34 loss at Lexington in its last outing to fall into fourth-place in the Eastern Conference standings one and half games behind Rock River and RiverCity.
Members of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad will perform and sign autographs at the game on Saturday.
It is also Special Olympics Night and the Extreme players will wear specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned to fans following the game. Proceeds from the auction and a portion of the tickets sold to the game will be donated to Special Olympics Illinois.
Tickets, priced as low as $10, for all Extreme games are on sale at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office. Tickets also may be purchased by calling 309-434-2679; 866-891-9992 or going to the team web site at www.bloomingtonextreme.com or www.uscellularcoliseum.com.
James Walton, Dominic Payne and Peter Christofilakos were nominated by the Extreme coaching staff for UIF Player of the Week honors.
Walton had seven receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown. His longest reception covered 37 yards.
Payne, a defensive lineman playing in his first game with the Extreme, has five solo tackles and four assists for seven points. He also had 1.5 quarterback sacks for minus 12 yards and two tackles for a total loss of 13 yards.
Christofilakos was perfect on four conversion kicks and averaged 52.1 yards on seven kickoffs. Lexington only averaged 14.2 yards on kickoff returns. The Horsemen entered the game with a league-leading 23.9 average.
