10-Yard Spotlight: Anthony Bullock
June 11, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE - A three-year letter winner in high school, Anthony Bullock moved to Fergus Falls Community College, where he claimed all-conference honors as a sophomore. From there, his career took him to Indiana State University, continuing to hone his skills and get noticed for his natural athletic size, standing 6'3", and power with his 340 lb frame. Now, Bullock is part of the Evansville BlueCats offensive line.
UIF: What strengths have you seen in the UIF since coming to the league?
AB: The things I've noticed have been the amount of dedication and hard work each person puts in, from the players to team management.
UIF: What was the biggest lesson you learned at Indiana State?
AB: Discipline and hard work.
UIF: What element of your game do you need to adjust the most for indoor football?
AB: I just need to be able to get used to a 3-man versus a 5-man front. It is very different when you don't have someone in front of you on the line.
UIF: What has been the best advice you received from some veteran players in the UIF?
AB: Work hard every day. Everyone has dreams, but the players who reach those dreams are the ones doing the extra things each day to better themselves.
UIF: What appealed to you the most about the UIF?
AB: This opportunity fell into my lap. I wanted to continue playing after college and got a call from the BlueCats. The competition in this league is tremendous.
UIF: Who have been the best linemen you've faced?
AB: LaDrelle Bryant and Johnny Brown; I get to face these guys every day in practice.
UIF: Are there any rituals you go through during pre-game?
AB: I love to get mad and bring all my feelings to the surface. I have to play mad. The key, though, is to play aggressive, while still playing controlled. When you lose control, you lose the ability to do the fundamentals.
UIF: If you weren't playing football, what would you be doing?
AB: Working in psychology.
UIF: What impressions do you have about UIF fans?
AB: UIF fans are great. The fans here in Evansville are very supportive of us. The 5,600 plus crowd in Bloomington was the biggest crowd I've ever played in front of during my career. As players, we have to remember that without fans, we don't have jobs.
UIF: What advice would you give to those wanting to play indoor football?
AB: Make this a steppingstone. Always shoot for the highest level of your sport and just go for your dreams.
