Windsor Express News Release

Windsor, ON- The Windsor Express kicked off their home schedule and hosted the Orangeville A's at the WFCU Centre on Friday night. The game was the second of a home-and-home between Orangeville and Windsor with the A's taking the win in the first game on Thursday night. Friday night also marked the return of former NBL Canada MVP, Quinnel Brown to Windsor. Brown received a standing ovation when his name was announced during pregame introductions.

Both teams were trading shots in a back-and-forth first quarter. Lester Prosper fought through contact and slammed home a rim rattling two handed dunk which literally sent two Orangeville players to the ground.

Windsor trailed after the first quarter but came out of the break with an alley-oop dunk finished off by Jernard Jarreau. A rough second quarter by the Express was the result of shots just not falling. Windsor trailed 50-40 after one half with Shawntez Patterson leading the scoring for Windsor with nine points and four rebounds.

The pick-and-roll was a key element of Windsor's success in the third quarter. By the end of the third quarter Express forward Nick Evans had already registered a double-double thanks to a monster quarter on the glass. Foul trouble would limit his playing time and contribute to Windsor's seven point deficit to the end the third.

A 9-2 Windsor run to start the fourth quarter got the home crowd on their feet. Lester Prosper had four points including a big dunk and a game tying layup. With Windsor leading by three and under one minute left, a nerve wracking scenario presented itself. Justin Moss finished at the rim and got the foul call, giving him an opportunity to tie the game with a free throw. The roar of the crowd got into the head of Moss and he missed the would-be game tying shot.

Windsor came out victorious at home by a score of 95-94.

Windsor forward Nick Evans was named player of the game thanks to his 18 points and 10 rebounds. Quinnel Brown added 12 points, five rebounds and three assists off the bench.

The Express will play next on the road in London on Sunday January 1st.

Windsor's next home game is set for Friday January 13th when the Express will host league newcomers Kitchener-Waterloo Titans.
