Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas â A day after the Round Rock Express lineup found the extra base hit again, Sunday night's 9-4 win over the Wichita Wranglers gave hope that a new trend has started.
Round Rock pounded out four doubles and a home run and Chad Qualls continued a personal trend of solid starts to send The Dell Diamond crowd of 8,706 home happy for the second night in a row.
Dax Norris got Round Rock started in the second inning when he doubled in the first of two runs with a shot to left field.
After Wichita got to Qualls for three runs in the fourth, Round Rock equalized them with three of their own in the fourth. Chris Burke doubled to start the inning and Mike Coolbaugh walked, bringing up Anthony Acevedo. Danny Tamayo's final pitch of the night ended up in the Wrangler bullpen for Acevedo's tenth home run of the season.
Burke ended the night going 4 for 6 with a stolen base for the fourth consecutive game.
That was more than enough for Qualls to get the win. He went eight solid innings allowing all four runs â three of them earned â on seven hits to move to 8-10 on the year.
Tamayo (10-14) took the loss after giving up six runs in 3.1 innings.
The finale of the four-game series will be Monday at 7:05 p.m.
