Express Open House Set for Saturday, March 7

ROUND ROCK - With its 10th Anniversary season opener just over a month away, the Triple-A Round Rock Express will open its gates for a sneak peak Saturday, March 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Dell Diamond - currently undergoing a $3.5 million renovation - will be open for live batting practice, shagging fly balls, ballpark tours, concession sampling and a scavenger hunt. Season and single game tickets will be on sale as a vintage baseball game takes place on the field. The Montgomery Saw Dogs, decked out in vintage 1800s baseball garb, will take on an assemblage of local media and Express personnel beginning at 11:00 a.m. On-field batting practice for fans will immediately follow.

The Kid's Zone, along with various inflatables, will also be open to the public. Individual game tickets for Round Rock's 2009 season will go on sale March 7 at 9:00 a.m. online and at the Round Rock Box Office. Admission to the open house is free.

2009 Round Rock Open House Calendar Vintage Baseball Game - (11:00-12:00) Vintage Baseball is traveling to The Dell Diamond on Saturday, March 7 for the Round Rock Express Open House. Vintage Baseball recreates the game as it was played in the 1860s, traveling across the country to educate baseball fans about the greatest game invented.

Batting On the Field - (12:00 - 4:00) Fans are invited to take batting practice on the playing surface of The Dell Diamond. Any fan hitting three balls out of the infield will receive a Rookie of the Year certificate. Any fan launching a home run will receive two Fireworks Plus Plan tickets in the Homerun Porch (wooden bat must be used). Fans are encouraged to bring their own bats.

Shag Fly Balls In The Outfield - (12:00 - 4:00) As batting practice goes on, fans can roam the outfield and shag fly balls just like the Express does during the season. Fans are encouraged to bring their own gloves. Inexperienced players and younger fans are encouraged to remain off of the infield during this time.

Children's Health Festival - (10:00 - 2:00) The health festival will take place in the United Heritage Center at The Dell Diamond.

Mustang Owner's Club of Austin - (8:30 - 3:00) The Austin Area Stang Club will have cars displayed in the parking lot.

Inflatables - (All Day) Inflatables will be set up on the sidewalk on the east side of the ballpark.

Scavenger Hunt - (All Day) Fans may take a self-guided tour and complete several tasks for a chance to win a pair of season tickets.

Clubhouse Self-Guided Tour - (All Day) The Home Clubhouse will be open for public viewing

Kid's Club Sign Up - (All Day) Kids can sign up for the Round Rock Express Kid's Club. The Kid's Zone Playscape will be open, also.

Concessions - (All Day) Fans can enjoy $2 hot dogs and sodas all day.

'09 Express Commercial Shoot This Afternoon - Join Us! The Express will be filming part of a special 10th Anniversary tribute commercial on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Dell Diamond. The shoot - complete with food and beverage - will begin at 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Express Finalizes Details of Intel Club With just over six weeks remaining before the start of its 10th Anniversary Season, the Round Rock Express finalized the details of the Intel Club, the newest addition to The Dell Diamond. The 4,000-sqaure-foot club is part of a $3.5 million Green Initiative renovation and expansion project for the Express, which will open up its 10th season against Iowa on April 9.
