ST. CATHARINES, ON - The Windsor Express travelled to St. Catharines Saturday night to take on the Niagara River Lions at the Meridian Centre. This was the third match-up so far this season against Niagara, all games being played on the road.

The first half was very back and forth between the two Central Division foes, as the teams traded baskets heading into a 40-39 lead for the River Lions at half time.

Windsor came out firing in the 3rd quarter going on an 8-0 run. Niagara was able to weather that storm though and get themselves back in the game and extend a lead going into the final frame.

The 4th quarter saw Niagara get out to a 17-point lead and it looked like the Express were all but finished for the night. However, Windsor never slowed down and fought back causing turnovers and capitalizing with points. The Express brought the game to within 2 points with under a minute to go. In a position where Windsor needed to start fouling, Niagara was able to convert on all of their free throws in the final minute.

A mistimed turnover for Windsor led to Niagara sealing the game 94-88.

Juan Pattillo

scored a game high 24 points and contributed 10 rebounds for the double-double.

Warren Ward, Quinnel Brown, and Wally Ellenson all scored in double digits for the Express.

Niagara was led offensively by Sammy Zeglinski with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Former Express players Chris Commons and Kirk Williams Jr. contributed 14 points and 18 points respectively.

The Express will return to Windsor for Clash at the Colosseum IV on Wednesday night February 8th at Caesars Windsor. That night will feature a triple-header of basketball games; starting at 3pm with the University of Lancers Women vs. Laurier, 5pm the Lancers Men vs. Laurier, and 8pm will be the tip-off for the Express vs. the KW Titans.

One ticket is good for all three games. Tickets are on sale at www.windsorexpress.ca
