(LONDON, ON) - In the most anticipated series of the National Basketball League of Canada playoffs, the Windsor Express and London Lightning squared off in Budweiser Gardens. Windsor walked away with a 100-98 victory after a failed buzzer beater attempt by Tyshawn Patterson.

Chris Commons puts the Express on the board at the start of the game for an early lead. Akeem Scott puts the Lightning ahead 18-14 after a three pointer midway through. The Express finish the first quarter down by 5, 29-24.

Windsor and London exchanged buckets in the first few minutes of the game, until Shaquille Keith made an incredible finish to the net to put Windsor ahead, 33-30. Windsor went into halftime with a one point lead, 50-49.

Maurice Bolden torched his former team in the third quarter, putting up 14 points. The Express had their biggest lead of the game after Alex Johnson's layup 78-61 with over a minute left. The Express went into the final frame with a 80-66 lead.

The final quarter didn't see a basket in the fourth quarter from either team until Akeem Scott's bucket, two minutes in. Halfway through the quarter, London went on a 8-2 run to bring the score within 9, 89-81. Brandon Robinson gave Windsor an 11 point lead after a jumper, 99-88. Ryan Anderson added 6 points in the last thirty seconds of the game to bring the score within 1, 99-98. A missed buzzer beater from Tyshawn Patterson would give Windsor a 100-98 victory.

Brandon Robinson put up a game high 32 points in the win.

Maurice Bolden added 22 points of his own.

Akeem Wright carried the Lightning with 18 points and 16 rebounds for the double double.

Garrett Williamson had 17 points of his own.

The Windsor Express will look for a series lead on Sunday, May 15th at Budweiser Gardens.

Games 3 and 4 will return to The WFCU Centre on Tuesday, May 17th and Thursday, May 19th. Both games are scheduled for a 7:30pm tip off.
