Express Drop Season Opener to Orangeville 105-93
December 29, 2016 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Windsor Express News Release
MONO, ON-The Windsor Express started their fifth season on the road Thursday night with a brand new roster, against the Orangeville A's at the Athlete Institute in Mono, Ontario.
The Express were the final team in the NBL Canada to play their first game, and that showed during the first half, as Windsor looked out of sync both offensively and defensively. Orangeville was able to capitalize and took a 57-40 lead into half time.
The second half was more promising for Windsor, as the team got into a groove offensively. Being forced to play from behind the entire game proved difficult for the young Express team. Even when Windsor would begin to make a run, the A's were quick to answer back to stay ahead.
Despite the Express outscoring Orangeville in the fourth quarter, 29-25, the A's were able to hold on and come away with their second win of the season, 105-93.
Nick Evans was the leading scorer for Windsor with 24 points, and added 13 rebounds for the double-double.
Warren Ward added 19 points of his own.
Clinton Springer came off the bench and put up 18 points for the Express.
Justin Moss put up a game high 35 points for Orangeville.
Rick Bodiford contributed 12 points and 15 boards for a double-double.
The Windsor Express will host the Orangeville A's in a rematch at the WFCU Centre for their home opener on Friday, December 30th for a 7:00 PM start.
