
Express Defeat Lightning, 94-91

(LONDON, ON) The Windsor Express (3-2) secured their third straight win from a last second three pointer from Brandon Robinson, defeating the London Lightning (3-2) 94-91.
Chris Commons gets the Express off to a quick start with a deep three, and the Lightning did not get a basket until the 9:17 mark when Chad Posthumus had the two handed slam. The first quarter saw three lead changes between both teams at the 5:40 mark. The Lightning were able to capitalize off a 2-0 run, and a three pointer from Warren Ward to take a 19-16 lead.
The second quarter was off to a slow start for Windsor. London was able to secure a ten point lead in the first two minutes, 27-10. Windsor closed the half trailing by 5, 41-36.
The Express came out strong in the third quarter of the game, outscoring the Lightning 25-19. Brandon Robinson drove through the lane and hit a layup as time expired, giving the Express a 65-56 advantage.
The last quarter of the game saw London make a comeback in the first few minutes, bringing it to a two point score, 67-65 in favour of Windsor. With less than five minutes to go in the game, Stephen Maxwell was able to tie the game at 80-80 after his three point play. Brandon Robinson responded with a three of his own to give Windsor the lead. London would tie the game again, 91-91 with 17 seconds left in the game, after Garrett Williamson makes one of two free throws. Brandon Robinson hit a three in the final seconds of the game to give Windsor their third straight win with a final score of 94-91.
Chris Commons put up 22 points and came up with 3 blocks for the Express. Brandon Robinson grabbed 9 rebounds to go along with his 20 points.
Kirk Williams Jr came out of the game with a double double (12 points and 14 rebounds).
Tyshawn Patterson of the London Lightning had a game high 29 points. Stephen Maxwell also had a double double (22 points, 15 rebounds).
The Express will head back on the road to take on the Niagara River Lions at the Meridian Centre for a 7:00pm start.
The next Express home game will be on Sunday, January 10th at The WFCU Centre, with a 2:00pm start.
