BURLINGTON, VT --- Three pitchers combined on a one-hitter, while the defense made no errors, turned three double plays and the offense scored a season-high seven runs as the Vermont Expos shutout the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 7-0 in New York-Penn League action Sunday evening at Centennial Field.

Devin Perrin (1-2) allowed one hit, a two-out double in the fifth inning, as he tossed five innings with four walks and five strikeouts for his first win of the season. Warmar Gomez pitched three hitless innings, while Chris Little retired the Scrapper 1-2-3 in the ninth inning for Vermont's second straight victory after a 12-game losing streak.

The Expos defense played error free for the second straight game (both wins) and also turned three double plays. Those double plays came in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings after two leadoff walks and a one-out walk.

Vermont scored four times in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single from Franklyn Jiomenez and a three-run homer from Kory Casto. The Expos added a run in the sixth on a sacrfice fly from Lorvin Louisa, then got a two-run homer from Salomon Manriquez in the seventh inning.

Cesaer Suarez had Mahoning Valley's lone hit of the game, while Adam Brandenburg (0-1) gave up four runs on four hits over 5.0 innings for the loss as the Scrappers fall to 11-9 overall. Mahoning Valley had come into the series with a .281 team batting average, but have just six hits in 55 at bats over the first two games with Vermont.

Jimenez was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Expos (3-17). The combined one-hitter for the Vermont pitching staff was the first for the Expos since July 24, 1996 and the first for Vermont at Centennial Field since July 18, 1996.

The two teams will wrap up the three-game series at Centennial Field on Monday night beginning at 7:05 p.m. Clint Everts (1-2) will start on the mound for the Expos on Stowe Mountain Resort Night!
