
Doubledays Wash Out Renegades

AUBURN, NY â In front of a jam-packed, standing room only crowd of 3,090, the Auburn Doubledays pounded out twelve runs on sixteen hits to pummel the visiting Hudson Valley Renegades 12-4. The game was called in the top of the eighth inning following a one-hour rain delay. Auburn has won three straight and improves to 14-5 on the year, maintaining first place in the Pinckney Division.
Doubledays second basemen Juan Peralta led the offensive onslaught going 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. The top of the Doubledays order; Peralta, Ryan Roberts, Aaron Hill and Vito Chiaravalloti combined to go 10-15 with 7 RBI and four runs scored. Auburn right fielder Brian Patrick provided fireworks as well going 2-3 with 2 RBI including his first professional homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning, a solo blast over the right field wall. Renegades right fielder Matt Rico provided the biggest offensive spark for his team going 1-3 with a solo homerun.
Doubleday starter Charles Talanoa (2-1) earned his second victory of the season going five innings allowing three runs on three hits to go along with three strikeouts. It was a long night for Hudson Valley starter John Dischiavo (1-3) who lasted only three innings giving up five runs on six hits with four walks and just two strikeouts. Former LeMoyne College standout Andrew Weimer pitched 1 1/3 innings for Hudson Valley allowing six runs on six hits.
Auburn and Hudson Valley play game two of a three game series tomorrow at Falcon Park starting at 6:05 PM. The Doubledays start left-hander Kurt Isenberg as he opposes Hudson Valley's Tony Peguero, one of the top pitchers in the New York-Penn League.
