Texas AirHogs News Release

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The AirHogs fell in Game 2 of their 3-game set in Sioux City by a final of 6-4 Saturday. Burt Reynolds went deep and scored 3 times, but the Explorers clinched the series with the win.

Reynolds homered off X's starter James Walsh in the 1st to score himself and Juan Sanchez. The home run was the American Association-leading 18th of the summer for Reynolds.

The AirHogs' early 2-0 lead would not last long though, as the Explorers got to AirHogs starter Cody Hebner for 6 runs from the 3rd through the 6th. Nate Samson and Brendan Slattery led the offense for the home team. Samson finished 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, including a 2-RBI double to even the score in the 3rd. Slattery finished with 3 runs scored.

Trailing 5-2 entering the 6th, Rodriguez scored Reynolds for a 2nd time on an RBI double. The team would cut the lead from 6-3 to 6-4 in the 8th on an RBI groundout by Leon Byrd that once again scored Reynolds. The RBI was the 3rd of the series for Byrd.

The team would get no closer though, as Conor Overton pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 2nd save of the series and his 8th of the season. Walsh, a rookie out of Mechanicsville, VA, got his first pro win by lasting 5 and limiting the AirHogs to 2 runs. Hebner absorbed his 6th loss.

The AirHogs and Explorers conclude the series tomorrow at Lewis and Clark Park. RHP Tyler Harris is expected to start for the AirHogs. First pitch is slated for 2:05 pm.

A live radio broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.

The team returns to Grand Prairie July 19th to begin a series vs. Wichita and will return to Amarillo for a series vs. Gary beginning July 28th. Tickets are available for both series. Further information can be obtained on airhogsbaseball.com or by calling 817-343-0729.
