The Sioux City Explorers squeaked past the El Paso Diablos 3-1 in the series finale on Sunday night at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, IA.

El Paso took the early lead for the second straight night. In the top of the first, Walter Olmstead shot a single up the middle which scored Jorge Alvarez for the 1-0 advantage.

Sioux City plated two runners in the bottom of the second. Jorge Moreno scored on a single by Alex Llanos to center field. Kory Drew over threw the third baseman Conley which allowed Llanos to cross the dish. Llanos would move to third base on the play. Llanos scored when Paul Weichard was caught in a run down off of first base for the 2-0 lead.

The Explorers added a run of insurance in the bottom of the eighth. Jorge Moreno walked with two outs against Aaron Trolia. Moreno stole second and third base while Alex Llanos was batting. Llanos then tapped a ground ball towards first which went through Juan Camacho's legs scoring Moreno for the 3-1 lead.

The Diablos had a chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth. El Paso managed three singles against Matt Wilkinson to load the bases. However, with two outs Wilkinson fanned Kory Drew on a full count pitch to end the game and pick up his ninth save of the season.

Cameron Cheek (3-0) takes the victory he tossed seven innings allowing no earned runs off of six hits with no walks and no strikeouts.

Greg Wiltshire (11-6) gets the hard luck loss as he threw six innings allowing just one earned run off of two hits with five walks and seven strikeouts.
