Sioux City Explorers News Release

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that INF Jake Daubert has signed with the club for the 2007 American Association season. Jake played the final 44 games with the X's in 2006 after starting the season in Brockton of the Can Am League. With the signing of Daubert, the X's now have three of their four allowed veteran slots filled with the recent signings of INF Alex Llanos and OF Jorge Moreno.

"Jake is a real favorite of mine," comments manager Ed Nottle. "He has played for me for three and a half years now and really knows how to play the game. He's a throwback player who practices how he plays, always 100%. Our fans should really enjoy watching Jake play day in and day out."

Daubert, 27, joined the Explorers last season after starting the season in Brockton where he had played since 2002. For the X's, Jake hit .294 in 44 games with 11 doubles, 3 homeruns, and 24 RBI's. From 2003 to 2005, Daubert played for current X's manager Ed Nottle. In his three seasons with Nottle, Daubert had a .297 batting average while missing only four games over the three-year period. In 2004, Daubert hit a career high 14 homeruns and followed that up in 2005 by leading the CanAm League in doubles with 29.

Daubert was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 15th round of the 2000 draft, and played two years in their minor league system. The 6'2", 215 pounder, played collegiate baseball at Rutgers (NJ) University.

Your hometown Sioux City Explorers will kick off their 15th season in Sioux City on May 10th in Sioux Falls, SD against the Sioux Falls Canaries. Following four games with the "Birds" and three in St. Paul, the Explorers will travel home to open Lewis & Clark Park for the 2007 season on May 17th with a four game set against the Canaries, with the first pitch set for 7:05 PM.
