
Exploreres Fall To Laredo In Extra Innings 10-9 In Game One Of Doubleheader

Laredo plated the first run of the game right away. Lemurs centerfielder Ty Morrrsion led-off the top of the first with a triple and scored off a 4-3 groundout hit by D' Vontrey Richardson to make it 1-0 to start the night.
In the second, Kevin Taylor doubled to start the top half, advanced to third on a Brian Peterson base hit, and scored off an RBI double by Luke Bailey. The Lemurs went on to score two more runs in the inning off a sacrifice fly and a base hit.
Explorers got the momentum back on their side in the bottom of the second inning. Tommy Mendonca led-off with a double, moved to third on a groundout and scored off a base-knock by designated hitter Ino Patron. X's centerfielder Matty Johnson had two cross home during his at-bat, knocking in Patron with an RBI single, and then an error by the second baseman would score another from third. Matty Johnson scored the tying run in the inning, advancing to third off a Michael Lang single and scoring on an overthrow.
Lemurs right-fielder Denis Phipps retook the lead in the top of the third off a solo home run, but Sioux City would answer with three runs of their own to give them the 7-5 lead after three. Ryan Court doubled and then scored off another double by Tommy Mendonca to tie it 5-5. Matt Koch knocked in Mendonca with an RBI single and later scored from third off a Tim Colwell base hit.
In the top half of the fourth, the Lemurs tied it once again, off a ripped single by D' Vontrey Richardson, scoring runners from second and third. The Explorers and Laredo went into a rain delay in the middle-top of the fourth, and was picked back up again on Friday the 17th at 6:05.
X's right-fielder Michael Lang was feeling refreshed and ready to go to start game one of the doubleheader, hitting a solo-shot to give Sioux City the 8-7 lead at the end of four. Laredo went on to tie it once again in the sixth, off a Juan Silverio RBI single to make it 8-8 after six innings.
The Lemurs and Explorers ended up going into extra innings in game one, with the the X's falling to Laredo 10-9 in ten. Laredo plated two runs in the top of the tenth, off a D 'Vontrey Richardson solo home run and an error by the second baseman that scored a runner from third to make it 10-8. Sioux City would cut the lead to one run in the bottom of the tenth, off a sac-fly RBI by Noah Perio JR, but would wind up falling 10-9 to Laredo in game one.
Starting pitchers John Straka and Greg Holle both got the no decision in the contest, with both pitchers allowing seven runs a piece in the early innings. Lemurs right-hander John Brebbia (4-2) received the win on the night, going 2.1 innings with on run allowed. X's reliever David Herndon (0-1) was charged with the loss for Sioux City, giving up two runs in two innings.
Explorers big hitter on the night was right-fielder Michael Lang, who went 4 for 6 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. X's designated hitter Ino Patron also had a four hit night, along with and RBI, stolen base and a run scored.
