Amarillo Gorillas News Release
AMARILLO, TX â Two members of the record breaking 2002-2003 Amarillo Gorillas say their time spent with the hockey club will serve them well when they suit up for their respective German clubs this fall.
Brandon Carper and Dorian Anneck have both inked agreements with German League hockey teams for the upcoming 2003-2004 season. For Carper it's a return to the country where he played in 2001-2002 and for Anneck it's his first time to play in Europe.
"Both Brandon and Dorian were integral parts of our success this past season," said Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations/Assistant General Manager Joe Ferras. "We wish them all the best in the future and thank them for their contributions to the Gorillas organization."
Anneck, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, who spent the past two seasons in Amarillo with the Rattlers and then the Gorillas, will play for the Essen Moskitos in the Division III Regionalliga. The Essen Moskitos were second in the Regionalliga with 90 points in 36 games.
"This is my first time playing in Europe so this is a new experience for me, but the larger ice surface will definitely help me and give me more time with the puck," said Anneck. "I think playing in Amarillo really taught me how to act professionally and I was guided and surrounded by great people like Joe (Ferras) and Pelly (Brian Pellerin)."
Essen, Germany is located just north of Dusseldorf, Germany. In two seasons in Amarillo, Anneck had 69 goals and 73 assists for 142 points in 126 games.
Brandon Carper will play for ETC Crimmitschau in the Bundesliga Division II German League after spending time with the EV Landshut just two years ago. Crimmittschau is just over two hours northeast of Berlin.
ETC Crimmitschau had a record of 12-33-2-9 for 49 points in 56 games last year in the Bundesliga. The addition of Carper to the line-up will definitely help the club out defensively which gave up 189 goals against.

This will bethe first year that the Gorillas will be in the Southern Conference with the arch-rival Lubbock Cotton Kings, Odessa Jackalopes and the San Angelo Saints.
