Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

Oklahoma City, Okla. – The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed all-star centerman Blair Manning, the club's front office announced today.

The 5-10, 200-pound native of Vancouver, British Columbia is entering his eighth season as a professional, and second straight with Oklahoma City. Last season, Manning was second on the club in scoring with 82 points (23-59-82) and made his second consecutive CHL All-Star Game appearance. During his eight-year professional career, Manning has picked up 461 points (149-312-461) in 473 games played.

Manning's 59 assists during the 2002-03 season led the Blazers as well as the Central Hockey League. He joins Hardy Sauter and Sylvain Fleury as the only Blazers to lead the CHL in assists. Manning was second on the club in scoring in the playoffs with seven points (2-5-7).

"My first season in Oklahoma City was great," said Manning. "The fans and community were very supportive of myself and my wife. I'm looking forward to coming back and having a solid year, with the ultimate goal of bringing a championship back to Oklahoma City."

"Last season he proved he was a valuable member of the team both on and off the ice," said head coach Doug Sauter. "I am going to look to him as a leader in guiding the younger members of our team toward a championship."

Manning is the first veteran player signed by the Blazers this season. Each CHL team is permitted to carry five players with 260-or-more games of experience.
