Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- The Reno Aces defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack baseball team, 9-3, in an exhibition Tuesday night, raising $15,000 for the University of Nevada Dugout Club.
With Reno Aces pitchers hurling for both squads, it was the Aces offense who took control, highlighted by a tape-measure three-run home run by Major-League veteran Wily Mo Peña in the bottom of the fifth. The Wolf Pack rallied for three runs in the ninth, but ultimately fell short on a night that allowed fans to see Aces Ballpark in action for the first time in 2011.
Nevada softball standout and Reno High School alum Britton Murdock provided a spark in the seventh inning with a running catch of a Tony Abreu sacrifice fly, after entering the game as a defensive replacement.
For the second-consecutive year, the exhibition game raised $15,000 for the University of Nevada Dugout Club, an organization that serves as the main fundraising body of the University of Nevada baseball team.
Reno starts the 2011 season with eight-straight games on the road, beginning Thursday, April 7 against the Salt Lake Bees. The home opener at Aces Ballpark is set for Friday, April 15. Single-game tickets are on-sale at the Aces Ballpark Box Office, online at www.RenoAces.com or by phone at (775) 334-7000. Discount full and partial season ticket plans are available today.
