Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons are looking forward to completing their two-week training camp with a pair of exhibition games against ACHA Division one college programs this Friday and Saturday at McMorran Arena.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines will visit McMorran Arena Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Fighting Falcons. The following night, the Fighting Falcons take on the Bulldogs of Adrian College.

Admission to the exhibition game is free for all fans that have purchased a full-season ticket package. All other fans can catch the action for just $3 per game. Tickets can be purchased at the door. There will be a four-ticket minimum for any credit card transactions.

The games will give the Fighting Falcons' coaching staff a chance to see how their training camp roster competes against NAHL-caliber opponents before they set their regular season roster. For the players, the exhibition games give them one last shot to prove they deserve a spot on the Fighting Falcons for their regular season opener against the Johnstown Tomahawks Saturday, September 14 in Johnstown, PA.

"We've seen a lot of progress made throughout training camp this year and we're excited for the opportunity to compete with these college programs to finish camp," said Fighting Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon. "As a coaching staff we've got some very difficult decisions ahead of us in the next few days and these games will give us the chance to see who is truly ready to compete at this level."

The Fighting Falcons have put together a very challenging and rewarding training camp for the players who have made it to this point. In addition to practices and scrimmages on the ice, the Fighting Falcons have worked through boot camp drills with United States Marines, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Port Huron City Recreation, and made other community appearances.

"This training camp has really covered all of the bases in terms of what our players can expect if they make this team," Gershon said. "Our commitment to the Blue Water Area is extremely important to us, and every player here knows that we're not just looking for guys who can perform on a high level on the ice, but also guys who are prepared for being leaders and role models in our community."

Fighting Falcons players will be at Mongolian Buffet & Grill in Fort Gratiot this Thursday at 7 p.m. to sign autographs and take photos with fans.

The Fighting Falcons return to McMorran Arena for their fourth NAHL season this fall. Season ticket packages start at just $175, and the first 25 fans to purchase two or more full season ticket packages will receive a free game-worn Fighting Falcons jersey.
