Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Are Back

HIDALGO, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are set to begin the 2013-2014 season with training camp starting tomorrow, August 29, and will conclude on Sunday, September 1.

This year marks the inaugural season of the Killer Bees in the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the oldest and one of largest USA Hockey-sanctioned junior leagues which consists of 24 teams that represent 11 states. Teams play 60 games in the regular season, home games will be played at the State Farm Arena.

The Killer Bees coaching staff is led by head coach Joe Coombs, assistant coach Matt Barth, and director of scouting and player development Brad Lutsch.

Players will get on the ice tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. On Friday the Killer Bees will play an intrasquad scrimmage at 4 p.m. The intrasquad scrimmages will be open to media and season ticket holders. On Saturday, August 31, another intrasquad scrimmage will be held at 4 p.m. and will be open to the public. Sunday, Sept. 1 will be the last day of camp and will consist of another scrimmage at 10 a.m. that is only open to media.
