Ex-Mainer Duvall Debuts with Giants
July 2, 2014 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) News Release
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Adam Duvall, a 2009 Sanford Mainer, made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut this week. The third baseman started for the San Francisco Giants in all four of their games against the Cincinnati Reds. And, incredibly enough, Duvall's first hit was a home run in his June 26 debut.
With the call up, Duvall becomes the fifth NECBL alumnus to debut in the Majors, the 44th to play this season and the 104 th to appear overall.
A product of Louisville, Duvall hit .279 with 10 RBI in 25 games for Sanford in 2009. He also fielded at an impressive .960 clip. He arrived late to Maine as his Cardinals advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals that spring. Duvall was Mainer teammates with Los Angeles Angels pitcher Michael Roth, who made his Big League debut last season.
The Giants' 11th round pick in the 2010 Draft, Duvall has not disappointed the San Francisco brass. He was an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star in 2012 after belting 30 homers and 100 RBI for High-A San Jose. Duvall's 23 home runs for Triple-A Fresno still lead the Pacific Coast League at the time of his call-up. He was slugging .620 at the time of his call up.
The NECBL congratulates Adam for this significant achievement.
