MILWAUKEE (Jan. 27, 2008) -- Deco, Guiliano Oliviero and MISL scoring leader Greg Howes each scored two goals as the Milwaukee Wave poured it on late and defeated the Chicago Storm 19-9 on Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

The Wave (12-6) took a 12-2 lead with two goals in the first 90 seconds of the second half. Marcio Leite slammed in a power play goal and then Guiliano Oliviero poked a looping shot over Jim Larkin on a rebound of Brett Wiesner's shot. Milwaukee seemed to be in control at that point, but the Storm (11-6) used their speed and aggressiveness to turn the game around.

Two goals late in the third quarter closed the gap, then Fabinho cracked a long 3-pointer with 9:47 to make it 12-9 and put the game in doubt.

But it took just nine seconds for the Wave to regain some space. Warren Ukah dug out a ball along the corner boards and away from Storm goalkeeper Jim Larkin. Wiesner ran onto it in the penalty area and buried the shot for a 14-9 advantage.

"Our ball possession was gone, it seemed like they had the momentum," said Wave head coach Keith Tozer. "It was a big answer for their goals, I thought it was huge."

Howes, who now has 74 points, slammed the door with 4:50 to go off a corner kick. Marcelo Fontana rolled him the ball outside the 3-point arc, and his right-footed rocket beat Larkin to his left. Fontana closed the scoring on an assist from Oliviero, who reached 902 career points with his five-point night.

Deco scored two goals in the first quarter and Joe Hammes had three assists in the first half as the Wave dominated most of that action. With the victory, the Wave own the season tiebreaker with the Storm, based on point differential.

"This game was like two for us, and we played one of our best games of the year," Tozer said. "That was big.

The Wave play Saturday at 6 p.m. against the California Cougars at U.S. Cellular Arena. It's a Family 4-Pack game; fans can order four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs for just $60. It's also Soccer Mom Night, and there is a pre-game Goodwill Vintage Fashion Show and Soccer Mom Parade. Call (414) 224-9283 or visit any Ticketmaster outlet for tickets.
