
Every Game Counts as Playoff Picture Comes into Focus
April 25, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK - The Dallas Desperados (11-2) and Colorado Crush (9-4), the only two AFL teams to clinch playoff spots, can claim division titles and ensure the top records in their respective conferences with wins this week.
Six other teams - Arizona (7-6), Austin (8-5), Nashville (7-6) New York (8-5), Orlando (9-4) and San Jose (7-6) - can clinch postseason berths this week. Arizona, Nashville, Orlando and San Jose need only win their games to ensure a playoff spot. Austin and New York need a win and help from other teams.
Following are the AFL's playoff scenarios for Week 14:
The COLORADO CRUSH clinch the Central Division title with any of the following:
1. Colorado win
2. Nashville loss
The COLORADO CRUSH clinch the best record in the American Conference with:
1. Colorado win + San Jose loss + Arizona loss
The ARIZONA RATTLERS clinch an American Conference playoff spot with any of the following:
1. Arizona win
2. Utah loss
3. Grand Rapids loss + San Jose win
4. Grand Rapids loss + Chicago loss
The NASHVILLE KATS clinch an American Conference playoff spot with any of the following:
1. Nashville win
2. Chicago loss + Las Vegas loss
The SAN JOSE SABERCATS clinch an American Conference playoff spot with any of the following:
1. San Jose win
2. Chicago loss + Grand Rapids loss
3. Las Vegas loss + Grand Rapids loss
The DALLAS DESPERADOS clinch the Eastern Division title with any of the following:
1. Dallas win
2. New York loss
The DALLAS DESPERADOS clinch the best record in the National Conference with any of the following:
1. Dallas win
2. New York loss + Orlando loss + Austin loss
The ORLANDO PREDATORS clinch a National Conference playoff spot with any of the following:
1. Orlando win
2. Columbus loss
3. Philadelphia loss
The AUSTIN WRANGLERS clinch a National Conference playoff spot:
1. Austin win + Tampa Bay loss
2. Austin win + Philadelphia loss + Georgia loss
The NEW YORK DRAGONS clinch a National Conference playoff spot with any of the following:
1. New York win + Georgia loss
2. New York win by >17 points + Tampa Bay loss
3. New York win by <17 points + Tampa Bay loss + Columbus loss
