
Everett ties a franchise record with 13 consecutive wins

Everett, WA -The Everett Silvertips held off the Portland Winterhawks Friday night, defeating their U.S. Division rival, 4-3. The Silvertips now improve their winning streak to 13 games, including a perfect 13-0 record in 2010. Everett now ties the 13 consecutive win record set in the '06-'07 season. Zack Dailey scored two goals and an assist for Everett to earn first star of the night. The nights second star Shane Harper added a goal and an assist Friday night while Chris Langkow rounded out the scoring for Everett. Ryan Murray collected two assists. Kent Simpson stopped 27 shots to earn his 16th win of the season, including his seventh straight win in as many starts.
Harper started the scoring Friday night with his team leading 32nd goal at 8:37 of the first period. Receiving a cross zone pass from Murray, Harper beat a diving Mac Carruth low glove side to give Everett a 1-0 lead. The Silvertips controlled the lead in shots 15-6 after 10 minutes of play.
Langkow added to Everett's lead at 9:04 of the second period for his 16th of the season. Josh Winquist made a pass from just inside the Everett offensive zone to Langkow in the slot. Langkow fired a hard wrist shot low blocker side past Carruth increasing Everett's lead to 2-0. Ty Rattie brought Portland within one goal with his 11th of the year at 11:38. Rattie fired a wrist shot from the left circle that bounced off traffic in front of the net before beating Simpson to make the score 2-1. Dailey put up his sixth goal of the year at 18:44 to make the score 3-1. Harper made a great cross zone pass to Dailey on the doorstep before the Everett forward cut back to the slot and went top shelf glove side. Rattie scored his second goal of the game at 19:48 bringing Portland back to within one goal. Rattie collected the puck at the point before walking down the slot and beating Simpson to make the score 3-2. Everett led 31-14 in shots after two periods of play.
Portland tied the game at 3:58 after Chris Francis scored his 22nd of the season. Francis collected a rebound to the side of the net before going for a wrap around and tying the score 3-3. Everett regained the lead with Dailey's second goal of the night at 8:41 on the power play. Dailey deflected a Gudas slap shot from the right point past Carruth five-hole to make the score 4-3. Portland pulled Carruth with 52 seconds left in regulation but Everett stopped Portland's scoring chances to hold onto a 4-3 victory.
This brings the âTips record to 32-16-2-1 with 67 points in 51 games played. The Silvertips finish their home stand at Comcast Arena this Saturday taking on the Kamloops Blazers at 7:00 pm.
