Everett Split Series in Eugene

EUGENE, OR: The Everett AquaSox and the Eugene Emeralds played another close game on Sunday, with the Emeralds coming out on top 4-3 to split the series.

Everett would get on the board first. After Andrew Miller doubled, he would score on a throwing error by second baseman Ghordy Santos in the third inning. The Emeralds quickly answered back in their half of the inning, as Aeverson Arteaga had an RBI single to tie the game up.

The score would remain 1-1, until the top of the sixth inning when Eugune would score three times. Grant McCray doubled (20) on a line drive to the right fielder scoring a pair of runs. McCray would later score on a double by Carter Howell. All four Eugene runs were charged to AquaSox starter, Brandon Schaffer who was making his second start of the series.

The AquaSox tried to get back into the game in the eighth inning, but Miller once again came up clutch with a two-out two-run single to cut the lead to one run. It was the second hit of the game for Miller, who is now hitting .333 in August.

Walking Cabrera also collected a pair of hits. Cabrera now has a base hit in 18 straight games. The streak includes ten games with the AquaSox, four games with the Modesto Nuts (Mariners Single-A), and the games with the Mariners ACL (Arizona Complex League) team.

Hunter Dula came into the game in the ninth inning and slammed the door as he retired the AquaSox in order to earn his eighth save of the season. Tanner Kiest (2-3) earned the win while Schaffer fell took the loss.
